| At The Waldorf School of Philadelphia we believe that rhythm and repetition, example and imitation are pillars on which early learning is based. Waldorf education recognizes that play, both at home and at school, lay the basis for healthy development and learning.
The activities of the Early Childhood Programs include:
- Creative play
- Circle time with singing, movement games and finger-play
- Storytelling and puppetry
- Painting, drawing and beeswax modeling
- Crafts connected with seasonal celebrations
- Cooking and baking
- Outdoor play and nature walks in all weather
Early Childhood Programs
The early childhood programs at The Waldorf School of Philadelphia create a healthy environment for young children to learn through imaginative and active play, stories, songs and hands-on practical activities. The beautiful environment of the classroom, simple playthings, and organic rhythms of the day and the year keep alive the openness, creativity and wonder of the young child. This approach stimulates the imagination, develops the intellect, and lays a foundation for the academic work of the Grades School.
